About Us

16 Mile Solutions specializes in delivering real-time, multidirectional purchase order information up and down supply chains. The company’s ground-breaking solution, 16 Mile OV (OV = Order Visibility), delivers software services over the Internet based on a fixed fee to lower start-up costs, speed implementation, and minimize impact on technology infrastructures.

The company was founded by Mark Pattison following years of buy-side and sell-side experience through his two companies, The Pattison Group and Front Porch Classics (sold in 2006). Both companies continually encountered the outdated, random, and error-prone communication methods typical of modern supply chains. The Pattison Group, a 15-year company and long time “preferred supplier” of products for the world’s leading coffee retailer, struggled with manual processes for sending and receiving critical information during a purchase order’s lifecycle. Like most companies and their trading partners, The Pattison Group could rarely access relevant purchase order data at critical points, much less communicate potential problems with any degree of efficiency.

In 2006, Pattison decided to tackle the problem himself. The result is 16 Mile Solutions, which is dedicated to bringing purchase order visibility to both the buy-side and sell-side of customers’ supply chains. To this end, the company brought in electronic data interchange (EDI), supply chain, and B2B e-commerce experts in return for giving them an equity position. Among them are Brian Schmidt, a long-time EDI consultant; John Baughn, an outsourcing specialist and former Accenture partner; Jon Gallegos, who played a major role in re-engineering EDI systems for Bristol-Myers Squibb and Bowater; and Fred Smith, a veteran programmer for EDI and data communications solutions.
